I'm not currently using notifications, but I know there is a Notification App you could try out. In the SmartHome UI, click the gear icon in the top right and go to Apps. Click on Featured Apps, and change the selection to Notification. You can install the App and try it out for SMS or Email push no...

Also be aware that when you go to Apps, the default only shows 'Featured Apps' and you will need to adjust your filters or search to see the many other apps as well.
