Range problem

I tried adding AN158 power switches but it seems the razberry cannot reach them due to distance. I'm surprised that in an open room the razberry cannot detect these devices further than 5 meters. It seems it needs a visual contact to be able to communicate. Is this a general problem with z-wave or how can I improve communication? As said this is an open room so no obstacles.

you can make some tests moving the plug (with an extension power cable). It must work on distance more than 5 m!
