RFXtrx433E

Post by tooltime »

Hi,

I have a few Somfy curtains that I'd like to control with my ZWave-net. There is a devicea from Somfy that probably could be used but it is closed to just working with Somfy equipments.
There is also an interesting device RFXtrx433E that can be used for both cheap 433 device as well as Somty 433,32 devices (and it handles the Somfy proprietary protocol)

I know there is a modul to use this device in Domoticz, but I'd like to stick to use ZWave the main system.
So I was thinking that it should be possible to do a similar solution for ZWave/RFXtrx?

Has anyone here any experience with this device? Any suggestions or ideas as to how one would go about?

If you have Somfy RTS motors then the RFXtrx433E is probably the best approach. You can add it to ZWay with minimal scripting knowledge and the rfxcmd command line tool (https://github.com/ssjoholm/rfxcmd). Z-Uno seems overkill, and would require additional Somfy components (dry contact switch or soldering an RTS remote) which are usually overpriced. The only problem with RFXtrx433E could be radio coverage depending on where you have your Zwave controller located.

Hi!

I am also interrested in this. Is there an absolute need for the Pop gateway or is it possible to use the rfx.com USB antenna?

I was very doubtful about it. But now I am using it for more than a year without any problem.

hpd, are you using The Pop or RFXtrx433e? If Rfx, how did you install it and get to work with z-way?

I am using RFXtrx433e. With regards to installation ,there is a github project "RFXcmd" which provides you with a python script. You can also ask question to the manufacturer if you have any problem.
As I said, this is a great device, it does what it is supposed to do without any problem.

Are you willing to tell how you got it to work?
I have tried to read readme-files and the wiki but domt give me much?
When it is installed thru a git pull command, how does it integrate with z-way/razberry?
