Manually polling a sensor value

I have to periodically poll a sensor value. I understand that there is an app called "Periodical Sensor Polling" that is supposed to do this.
However, I can not figure out how to use it. Clicking "Add app" gives the messages "You can have only one installation of Periodical Sensor Polling. If you want to reinstall or uninstall this app go to Active Apps.". There does not seem to be any apps under "Active apps".
