For the record, I bought the Aeon Labs Minimote remote and was able to exclude the device with this remote. Afterwards, including the device in Z-Way was no problem at all!

between too distant versions of Z-Wave SDKs. Sigma (Zensys) are doing their best to keep compatibility, but it is not so easy. We have experienced same problems, but we choose to trow old devices than to dig deeper
